Spring Concert of Live Music and Original Dance

On Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m., California Contemporary Ballet and Windsong Players Chamber Ensemble will perform “A Concert of Music and Dance” at the Dance Street Theater located at California DanceArts, 4490 Cornishon Ave. in La Cañada. It will be an elegant event for couples and families. Tickets are available at https://CalBallet.com or by calling (818) 583-7406.

This is a collaboration stemming from the long-time friendship and imaginations of two artists who will deliver a lovely concert of music and dance. The stunning choreography of Aerin Holt, as performed by the dancers of the California Contemporary Ballet dance company, weaves together Holt’s creative visions in the form of dramatic vignettes with the accompanying musical delights of the Windsong Players Chamber Ensemble, directed by flutist/poet Alice Pero.

The music of Debussy, Quantz, Telemann, Rachmaninov, Babjanyan, Aghiyan and others will be performed for flute, violin, viola and piano as will a world premiere by local composer Carol Worthey. The evening and afternoon performances will be certain to romance any lover of live music and dance, enhanced by poetry, song and story.

California Contemporary Ballet, established in 1997, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit company formed by Aerin Holt, the company’s visionary choreographer and artistic director. CCB is one of Southern California’s burgeoning dance companies featuring Holt’s unique choreography blend of classical, contemporary and theatrical dance works. Holt successfully integrates a company of youth and career talent with performances that display a bouquet of trained ballet dancers, modern dancers, gymnasts and aerialists. CCB has developed three elaborately produced full-scale original ballets performed seasonally at Glendale Community College. The Company has performed internationally in the Czech Republic under the auspices of the Prague International ballet and has been featured in concerts, theater and festivals throughout Southern California.
