All the People We Encounter Each Day is an exhibit at the Adams Square Mini Park. On display through July 12, All the People We Encounter Each Day depicts a crowd of people swirling like a school of fish, created from layers of painted cut paper suspended from the ceiling with monofilament. The people depicted in the installation are based on individuals artist Amy Oates has seen in public. Oates explores crowds as representative of ephemeral moments where individuals converge to form something abstract yet familiar, embodying negotiations between personal and public space. As she sees greater density necessitating greater attention to social interactions, she explores questions about how we can learn to live within the crowd. She considers ideas about individual and collective identity, alteration, and sustainability.

An artist reception at the mini park hosted by the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This temporary art installation is sponsored by the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program with support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services and Parks and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.
