La Cañada Presbyterian Church is hosting a 50-piece orchestra and 60-voice choir in the presentation of “Americana,” a celebration of America, on Sunday, July 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Presented as part of the church’s acclaimed Ovations Arts Series, “Americana” will feature traditional selections, including Irving Berlin’s “God Bless America,” sung by alto soloist Diane Wallace; “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”; a stirring arrangement of “America the Beautiful” by Carmen Dragon, the late conductor of the Glendale Symphony; and a spectacular rendition of John Philip Sousa’s original “Stars and Stripes Forever.”
Emcee for the evening will be Tyler Wright, president and CEO of the Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA. Per tradition, he will provide inspirational commentary and recite patriotic poems between the musical selections.
General admission tickets, priced at $15, and reserved seating at $20, are available in advance by calling Melissa Rinker at (818) 790-6708, ext. 251, at the church office or at the door.
