The Vignes Rooftop Revival plays high-energy acoustic Gypsy jazz, swing, and international folk music. They will be playing on Aug. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Brand Plaza in Glendale.
Tucked away in a corner of Downtown Los Angeles lies a secret rooftop garden, where artists and musicians mingle with scientists and inventors, and the ringing of acoustic guitars wafts through the leaves of exotic plants. In this urban oasis the seeds of the Vignes Rooftop Revival took root, and over six years the group has honed its toe-tapping blend of Gypsy jazz and folk eclectica while blossoming into a local collective of several dozen musicians.
The group is arguably LA’s busiest and greenest swing band – performing over 200 times per year, the founding members travel to almost all of their shows by foot, bicycle, or skateboard.
Every Friday through August visitors to Brand Park can hear summer concerts for free on the Brand Library Plaza, supported by the City of Glendale and the Glendale Arts & Culture Commission, with funding from the Urban Art Program and the Brand Associates.
