The sequel to the original play “Where Is Your Groom?” will stage a repeat performance for the Los Angeles community at the historic Alex Theatre on Sunday, Oct. 6. Following 15 sold-out performances around the country “Where Is Your Groom?” ties together elements of the American-Armenian experience. The satirical play highlights common themes in today’s diasporan culture and the efforts to preserve one’s heritage in a melting-pot society.
In this sequel, the overbearing nature of Armenian parents, eager to plan a wedding in their own way, takes center stage as the play satirizes the Armenian family and cultural life in a production that’s meaningful and appealing to all generations.
It features Harout Soghomonian, Maro Ajemian, Mariette Soudjian, Helen Kalognomos, Mary Basmadjian, Mado Iskenderian, Vatche Ghanimian, Henry Abadjian, Haig Hovnanian, Joe Hovsepian, Chris Kioudjian, Harven Danielian, Liza Iskenderian, Aleen Khanjian, Asdghig Abadjian, Aleen Vartkessian, Arees Setrak, Hannah Pollock and Arevig Abadjian. Running time is 90 minutes plus intermission.
Red carpet at 5:30 p.m.; show is at 6 p.m. Play is in English with some Armenian. Tickets are available online at www.alextheatre.org by phone at (818) 243-ALEX (2539).
