Then & Now | Voltz Family Brick House

THEN » In 1931, Henrietta Voltz sits on the front porch of their new brick house at 3021 Honolulu. Seated next to her is 2-year-old Arthur Voltz, who later grew up to become a Glendale fire captain. Their house was right next to their gas station at the corner of Honolulu and Ramsdell.

NOW » The house at 3021 Honolulu today is the same shape, but the beautiful brickwork is covered with a layer of stucco. Do the current residents even know their house is brick underneath? Jeremy’s Coffee Shop has replaced the gas station at Honolulu and Ramsdell, and Arthur Voltz has retired and lives in the Big Bear area now. (Thanks Arthur for donating this photo!)
