Art Installation at Glendale’s Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station

Artist Dillan Garcia’s installation, Diversity Tree, will be on display at the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station through Nov. 12.

Diversity Tree is a mixed media installation inspired by the materials and art process developed in the Oaxacan experimental art gallery. Materials used include colored rope, copper wire, Velcro straps, reflective paint, green LED light strips, sandpaper, fish line, fishhooks, tea bags, clear Gorilla glue and plywood board. The tree is a symbol for LA County’s diverse population and its drooping branches with leaves represent the ethnic communities within, capturing a feeling of cultural unity.

The mission of the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission is to enrich the human experience, reinforce Glendale’s identity and civic pride through arts and culture, and to recognize the importance of arts to our quality of life and to the local economy. This is accomplished by consciously integrating arts and culture into the daily life of the people of Glendale through urban design, planning, economic development, and education.
