The annual food drive at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy took on extra urgency this year as the recession meant that more families were in need both at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“The drive normally would end at Thanksgiving, but we have expanded it because the need was so very great,” explained Rosemary Johnston, moderator of the Christian Act Movement Club that spearheaded the drive on the FSHA hilltop campus.
Students were encouraged to bring in bags of non-perishable food items that this year were split between food banks in Pasadena, Burbank and Los Angeles, and also with the Santa Teresita parish in East Los Angeles.
