The La Crescenta Tree Lighting that occurred on Dec. 12 got everyone in the mood for a small town holiday season. Student performers from Dunsmore and La Crescenta elementary schools and Crescenta Valley Instrumental Music jazz band entertained the audience. The courtyard in front of the library was filled with children and adults, that seemed equally excited about seeing Santa and Mrs. Claus.
The all day event was sponsored by Los Angeles Supervisor Kathryn Barger and the Friends of the Library. Before the evening tree lighting began, there were several things kids to do including crafts and attending a puppet show.
The audience was part of the program as well with a holiday music sing along. The event was founded by then president of the Crescenta Valley Town Council Robbyn Battles who continues to volunteer hours to make certain the celebration is a tradition that will continue for years to come.
