Dunsmore Elementary held it first robotics tournament on Dec. 18. Students in grades five and six participated and formed five teams to compete against each other. Each team engineered and computer-programmed a design that they built into a small-scale robot, known as Lego Mindstorms EV3.
Their coaches and sixth grade teachers Carrie Wedemeyer and Lori Cassley met with the students to help develop their designs. Both teachers have been the robotics coaches and facilitators at Dunsmore for the past six years.
The winning top two teams, team three and team four, will compete at the District Level on March 2 at Roosevelt Middle School. Last year, Dunsmore’s robotics team won first place overall.
