Monte Vista Elementary School parents on Thursday, Jan. 12 enjoyed a special recorder concert performed by third grade students. The students performed a seven-song set for fellow students and parents showcasing the musicianship they learned under the direction of Erin Armstrong.
The children played renowned classics such as “Go Tell Aunt Rhodie” and “Merrily We Roll Along” to an audience of over 120 parents and upcoming second grade students. The concert concluded with a well-received grand finale of “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
The third graders are learning to read music and play recorders as part of a primary music program at the school funded by a grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, Monte Vista’s PTA, and the Monte Vista Foundation.
