The third grade Girl Scout Brownie troop from Monte Vista Elementary recently completed work on a community service project to encourage recycling of plastic water bottles at their school. The girls purchased and decorated two large recycling trashcans for their campus.

To get the word out to their schoolmates, the girls wrote a brief article that was included in the school newspaper: “Have you seen the new recycle bins on campus? The 3rd grade Brownie Troop 1591 decorated new recycle bins for their Journey Badge community project. The recycle bins are to encourage all the students to recycle any plastic bottles. This will not only help raise money for PE equipment, but will also help make our world a better place. Thank you for supporting our school by recycling.  – Monte Vista Girl Scout Troop #1591”
