ALG Provides SAT Seminars
Assistance League of Glendale offers biannual SAT seminars (usually in March and September) to students attending public and private high schools in Glendale and the surrounding communities. The seminars are held at Thrift Alley, 314 E. Harvard St. in Glendale. Seminar teachers are currently teaching at local high schools and are highly qualified.
Two sessions are offered: on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Feb. 12 and continuing through March 7 or Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 13 through March 8. They run for four weeks from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
The cost is $60 that includes eight meetings (two hours each), plus book Kaplan SAT.

‘Celebrate Music’ Theme of Fundraiser
The La Cañada High School Music Parents Association is hosting an evening of music, food, auctions and raffles on Saturday, Feb. 24. The festivities support La Cañada High School’s instrumental music and color guard groups. The groups will be a part of the 19th Annual Dinner Show and Fundraiser at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. Hours for the event are 5:30 p.m. to 8:45 pm.
“Celebrate Music” is the theme for the evening. Showing off their skills under the leadership of LCHS Instrumental Music Program director Jason Stone will be the advanced orchestra, marching/concert band, color guard/winter guard, winter drumline, 7/8 orchestra, and 7/8 band. The event will also feature a silent auction, raffle prizes, and an after-party from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. that showcases the jazz band.

Student Mural Contest
Senator Anthony J. Portantino announced that he is holding a mural contest for his Glendale district office. The contest is open to all public and private high school art classes from the 25th District. Student teams are encouraged to submit their designs for the mural that will be showcased in his conference room. The senator’s staff will select the winning submission. The chosen student artists will paint the mural over the summer break.
The theme of the mural will be “California Dreamin’: Hopes, Dreams, and Diversity Across the 25th Senate District.” Art classes are encouraged to set up appointments to visit the conference room. District office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The winner will be announced at the end of March.
The submission deadline is March 15. Submit all designs to Senator.Portantino@senate.ca.gov or in person.

CSF Now Accepting Scholarship Apps
The Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge (CSF) is accepting 2018 scholarship applications. CSF is a community-supported foundation established in 1964 with the goal of enabling local students to attend college, university or a trade/technical school upon completion of his or her secondary school studies. Full-time students who attend a public or private school located within the city of La Cañada Flintridge, as well as Crescenta Valley High School, regardless of home residency, are eligible to apply for scholarships.
Minimum eligibility requirements include: 3.0 unweighted grade point average, Electronic Student Aid Report 2018-19 (SAR), completed application and financial information, and special circumstance letter. All application and financial information is strictly confidential and is made available only to the third-party professional financial aid consultant. Scholarships will be granted on the basis of academic achievement as well as references, community service and character. Scholarships are awarded for one year, but may be renewed for each year of college, trade or technical school. For more details, consult the CSF website csflacanada.org.
All required school and financial documentation, along with reference reports, must be received by April 30. Award recipients will be notified in May, and awards will be sent directly to the recipient’s registered schools.
