Dunsmore Elementary School fourth grader Madeleine Raymond has a passion for helping animals. She turned 10 years old on Feb. 16 and is having a party at Montrose Bowl on Feb. 20. Like most young girls she is anxious for her party but not because of the presents she will be receiving but for the donations. Madeleine has asked all her friends to bring a donation for the Pasadena Humane Society in lieu of presents.

“My friends don’t really [understand]. They want to bring me a present,” she said.

But for Madeleine the gift will be helping lost and abandoned animals. She has three rescued dogs of her own: Snoopy, Misty and Bailey; and three cats: Crown, Sally and Gray.

“The animals didn’t do anything wrong. They should all be loved and cared for. I want to make sure they have a [good] life,” she said.

Anyone who would like to donate to Madeleine’s present to the animals can drop a donation by Montrose Bowl at 2334 Honolulu Ave. on Feb. 20.
