Students, school administrators and supporters were surprised this past week when members of the Crescenta Valley High School PTSA stopped by their homes to present them with honorary service awards. The awards are a way for the PTSA to publicly acknowledge both individuals and organizations for outstanding community service to children and youth in the community.
Members of the high school’s student senate received Very Special Person Awards. Students who were recognized included Miriam Awan, Joshua Chambers, Bennett Davis, Asante Guzik, Jesse Guzik, Emma Khodadadi, Jocelyn Jun, Gracen Minkler, Madi Vailente, Andrew Yegiayan and Jack Zackrison.
The Outstanding Administrator Award was presented to CVHS assistant principal Jordan Lessem. Mary Torossian, a CVHS typist clerk II, received an Honorary Service Award. Former Prom Plus president and Crescenta Valley Weekly publisher Robin Goldsworthy received the Community Service Award. CVHS teacher Rob Evans was recognized with the Outstanding Teacher Award.
Very Special Person Awards were presented to cafeteria workers Berzwik Issagoolian, Cirila Gonzalez, Dalia Tammo, Irma Lamberson, Molly Mikel, Marina Ebramian, Shakeh Jarian, Teresa Velazquez, Michele Stockton, Vivian Nessim and Frida Panosian.
Also receiving Very Special Person Awards was the leadership team of CVHS teachers Amy Besoli, Tiffany Hirdler and Kristin Milano and teacher specialist Anne Reinhard.
For her ongoing work, PTA President and Monte Vista Elementary School teacher Rebecca Harvey was presented with the prestigious Golden Oak Service Award.
