On Feb. 3, St. Monica Academy (2361 Del Mar Road in Montrose) senior Matthew Golbranson signed a national letter of intent to play soccer for Santa Clara University. Golbranson is SMA’s first student/athlete to sign to play a Division I sport. He also plays on SMA’s baseball team where he is a two time league MVP and was named to the all-CIF team last year. He maintains a 4.1 (4.0 scale) GPA.
