On any given Wednesday morning you might find this group having breakfast at Hill Street Café in La Cañada, but on this day they jumped on the Metro Gold Line in Pasadena, took it to Union Station and then walked to Philippe’s for a classic French dip sandwich and brew for lunch.
They call themselves The Old Pfa_ts, but in public they answer to The Old Fogies. Three of the original members have been meeting weekly since 1995. When asked, “Where are your spouses?” one of them replied (anonymously), “This is a guy thing.”
What’s next on the agenda? John Beckman, organizer of this event, said,” I hear talk amongst the guys of riding the Metro to Long Beach for a similar outing.”
