Spring Concert at CVHS
Save the date! The Crescenta Valley High School Instrumental Music Dept. is having its 2018 Spring Concert on Wednesday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in MacDonald Auditorium at CVHS, 4400 Ramsdell Avenue, La Crescenta. Note that change in time.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
The concert will feature the wind ensemble, string orchestra, jazz band, symphony orchestra, and concert band performing fun and classical favorites sure to uplift and inspire.

 

Student Mural Contest
Senator Anthony J. Portantino announced that he is holding a mural contest for his Glendale district office. The contest is open to all public and private high school art classes from the 25th District. Student teams are encouraged to submit their designs for the mural that will be showcased in his conference room. The senator’s staff will select the winning submission. The chosen student artists will paint the mural over the summer break.
The theme of the mural will be “California Dreamin’: Hopes, Dreams, and Diversity Across the 25th Senate District.” Art classes are encouraged to set up appointments to visit the conference room. District office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The winner will be announced at the end of March.
The submission deadline is March 15. Submit all designs to Senator.Portantino@senate.ca.gov or in person.

 

American Heritage Girls Troop Announces Children’s Business Fair
The Pioneers and Patriots of American Heritage Girls Troop CA1212 will host its first Crescenta Valley Children’s Business Fair on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge.
Kids ages 6-17 are invited to showcase their best business ideas at this one-day marketplace. Up to 20 businesses will be chosen. To participate, prospective vendors should apply at childrensbusinessfair.org/lacrescenta.
The troop is also seeking sponsors for the business fair. Sponsorships from $50 to $250 are available, and in-kind contributions of supplies and services are also welcome. Prospective sponsors should contact Brenda McAlpine at ahgca1212@gmail.com or (818) 601-4622.

CSF Now Accepting Scholarship Apps
The Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge (CSF) is accepting 2018 scholarship applications. Full-time students who attend a public or private school located within the city of La Cañada Flintridge, as well as Crescenta Valley High School, regardless of home residency, are eligible to apply for scholarships.
Minimum eligibility requirements include: 3.0 unweighted grade point average, Electronic Student Aid Report 2018-19 (SAR), completed application and financial information, and special circumstance letter. Scholarships will be granted on the basis of academic achievement as well as references, community service and character. Scholarships are awarded for one year, but may be renewed for each year of college, trade or technical school. For more details, consult the CSF website csflacanada.org.
All required school and financial documentation, along with reference reports, must be received by April 30. Award recipients will be notified in May, and awards will be sent directly to the recipient’s registered schools.
