Archer Rivas Foundation to Offer $50,000 in College Scholarships

The Archer Rivas Foundation (ARF) is now offering $10,000 college scholarships to one senior from five different area high schools including Crescenta Valley, La Cañada, Verdugo Hills, Glendale and Hoover.

  ARF is a non-profit organization created by Ron Archer and Reggie Rivas, the owners of Archer Travel Service Inc. in La Crescenta. Established in 2022, this organization strives to assist people who are seeking to live a happy, productive and healthy lifestyle. The foundation helps those who are homeless, in substance abuse recovery and others in need. The foundation also funds educational programs, promotes addiction awareness and encourages healthy living.

  Potential recipients must show financial need and strong academic performance. To be considered for this opportunity students are required to submit an application and an essay detailing why they should be considered, as well as letters of reference. Many aspects of the student’s high school careers will be taken into consideration including GPA, attendance, participation in school clubs and or sports, extra curricular activities and public service. Once applications are reviewed, standout candidates will be selected to have an interview with the foundation’s board of directors in order to choose the five recipients of the scholarships.

Distinguished Young Women of Los Angeles

College scholarships will be awarded to local high school junior girls in the upcoming Distinguished Young Women of Los Angeles County scholarship program on March 22. 

Twenty five participants from across the county will compete for cash scholarships and the chance to represent their home state at the the Distinguished Young Women of California state program in July, where they will be eligible for even more scholarships.
