Mark Rubio has been selected as the new Clark Magnet High School principal. He has served as interim principal since October.
According to a statement circulated by GUSD superintendent Dr. Daneika Watson, based on feedback shared in listening sessions and community surveys, it was clear that the Clark community is happy with Rubio’s performance as interim principal and believes he is the right choice to lead Clark Magnet forward.
Rubio has served the GUSD community for 35 years as a teacher, coach, teacher specialist and administrator. He has nearly 20 years of experience as a high school administrator in GUSD, serving as dean of attendance at Crescenta Valley High, teacher specialist at Daily High, and assistant principal at both Hoover and Glendale High. Most recently, Rubio served as the GUSD coordinator of Athletics and Physical Education since 2021.
He received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Occidental College and his master’s in Education Administration from California State University, Northridge.
