Employers Sought for CVHS Career Day

On Tuesday, May 1 from noon to 3 p.m., Crescenta Valley High School will be hosting Career Day. The event encourages students to discover the many positive aspects of getting a job, both now and in the future, and the types of careers available. Event Chair Ron Scott said he envisions providing students with a variety of tools for their job search “toolbox.”

Scott, a long time human resources professional, former board member of Cal SHRM, the Society for Human Resources Management, and CV dad, said that he is passionate about helping students get off on the right foot. He, along with the Career Day committee, is working to create four different areas of discovery:

• Career Exploration

• A job fair where employers can offer apprenticeships or work experience programs

• Job prep “boot camp” that will include interviewing skills, job search techniques

• Resume writing tips

The committee is searching for several career professionals willing to share their “real world” experiences with students. Especially sought after are Falcon alumni in well-established careers willing to share their own success stories. Also needed are employers – small, medium, and large who can offer jobs (PT/FT, summer, temporary), internships and work experience programs.

Anyone interested in participating should contact Ron Scott at ronmelodyscott@att.net asap.
