Twenty-five young actors in grades five through eight brightened the Lanterman Auditorium stage on March 14 with the Assistance League of Flintridge ALFie Company production of Disney’s “Aladdin JR.” Charming costumes and a colorful set design brought this coming-of-age adventure story to life. Popular songs, like “A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me,” were enjoyed by all who watched the actors’ enthusiastic performances.
This musical was directed by Katelyn Fike with assistant director Tristan Waldron. Piano accompaniment was provided by longtime ALF member Nancy Abbott. Their hard work and dedication is appreciated.
ALFie Company is a philanthropic program administered by ALF, and admission is always free for families who attend. Productions such as these offer the children in the local community a valuable chance to experience the many joys of theater. All in all, the cast shared the delight of a magic carpet ride with the audience of over 200 people in attendance.
Assistance League of Flintridge will also be hosting its annual summer school program from June 16 to July 11 with registration now underway. In addition to enrichment classes, the performing arts courses “All the World is a Stage,” “Bring on the Beat” and “Band for Beginners” will be offered. The registration cost per class is $200 and enrollment will be open until June 6.
