The fifth grade class of Apperson Street Elementary School, with the support of the Apperson PTA, is partnering with Goodwill Southern California to host a donation drive to raise funds for its culmination activities. The class will earn money for every bin full of donated items. Their goal is to fill 30 bins. They invite the community to help them meet and exceed their goal by collecting clean, sellable items and bringing them to the collection site located at 8443 Foothill Blvd. in Sunland on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The three individual fifth grade classrooms will be competing with each other to see who generates the most donations. For those who have items that aren’t used, wanted or needed anymore, this is a great opportunity to clean out closets, basements or attics. Acceptable donations include: clothing, shoes, accessories, books, CDs, DVDs, videos, household items, and electronics (working or not). A complete list of acceptable items can be found at www.goodwillsocal.org/donate or in the front office of the school. Please do not bring computers or computer related items as the students will not get credit for such donations.
It’s a win-win situation for all! Items donated get a new life, the Apperson fifth grade raises the funds it needs and Goodwill receives the items that support Goodwill’s mission of enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities or other disadvantages through education, training and job placement services.
