Bradford Swensen Hales was born and raised in La Crescenta and is currently a sophomore at Crescenta Valley High School where he participates in the Charismatics a cappella choir as well as water polo and swim teams. After years of piano study, Hales chose to focus on the cello and is a member of the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra. Hales serves in the Teachers Priesthood Quorum in the La Crescenta Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and is grateful to the many teachers and scout leaders who have mentored him throughout his life.
As Hales was deciding on his Eagle project, he noticed the classy snack shacks at other high schools and was inspired to bring one to the pool deck at CV High School. The principal and booster club were excited to approve a custom snack shack for the swim and water polo teams to help increase revenue and curb appeal. It was a great experience for Hales to design and build the new snack shack, working alongside fellow scouts, friends and, of course, his dad.
“Scouting has taught me to be a moral and hardworking young man, and I know these traits will continue to serve me throughout the rest of my life,” Hales said. “Thanks to my mom and dad for everything they have done to help me accomplish my goal of earning the rank of Eagle.”
