The Boy Scouts of the Verdugo Hills Council showed their spirit at the Pirate Cove Camporee at Camp Verdugo Oaks in Castaic over the weekend of March 10. Camporee is a council-wide event where multiple troops’ Scout patrols compete in scouting events and showcase their scouting skills.
There were 237 people in attendance, including a staff of 80 adults and older Boy Scouts, plus Boy Scouts from 13 different troops. Scouts from 27 patrols competed in seven exciting and challenging competitions – activities such as shooting pellet guns, administering first aid, orienteering, lashing, throwing tomahawks, fire-building and walking the plank (poolside teambuilding events).
The winning patrols were awarded ribbons at the evening campfire program, which included skits and songs.
