The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada La Crescenta – AM provides an annual scholarship program aimed at recognizing students who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities, strong commitment to community service and enjoyment in extracurricular activities. Scholarship categories include community service performers, those who earned their Girl Scout Gold Award, attend Hillside School, are members of JROTC and/or Key Club and/or earned their Scouting America Eagle Scout Award. The Johnson Scholarship, funded by the donation of a club member, is for earmarked for a student heading to an accredited trade school. The Journey House Scholarship, funded partly by a club member donation, is earmarked for a young adult who recently aged out of the foster system to support her continued college education.
This year there were 14 recipients. The recipients, their parents and Kiwanis club members enjoyed dinner and dessert at the annual presentation event. Each awardee shared college plans and future goals, then received a certificate and scholarship check.
The AM Kiwanis club is proud to contribute to the development of future leaders and professionals who will make meaningful contributions to society.
The morning Kiwanis Club always welcomes guests and prospective members to weekly meetings, with no obligation to join, on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Church fellowship hall at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada.
