Crescenta-Cañada Nursery School (CCNS) hosted its annual Trike-a-Thon fundraiser on Saturday, April 20. Children, parents and the community united for a day of pedal-powered fun. Following the event, CCNS commemorated the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the highly anticipated Flo’s Farm – a dream realized for one special student, Florence, thanks to the generosity of The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“Florence was successfully treated for cancer during the pandemic and at the height of social unrest,” shared her dad Rich. “This wish is extra special because it honors her love for being outdoors, refreshes an outdoor space at the school she loves and is part of our family’s healing journey. We’re grateful for the many people who dreamed with us, and that something good could come out of the immense pain we experienced.”
Flo’s Farm became a labor of love, symbolizing community spirit and collaboration. Inspired by Florence’s affection for Muddy Boots Farm at Kidspace Museum in Pasadena, parents, grandparents, friends of the preschool and neighbors banded together to bring her vision to fruition. Florence’s dad, an architectural designer, lent his expertise and enlisted the professional services of his construction company ROAM while Kidspace Museum offered guidance and others contributed with sanding, painting and carpentry. It was a testament to the power of collective effort and the unwavering dedication of the CCNS community.
The combination of the Trike-a-Thon and the ribbon-cutting ceremony created an unforgettable day. From the thrill of racing around the track to the excitement of exploring Flo’s Farm, it was a day filled with love, laughter and the boundless possibilities of childhood.
