Kiwanis Designates Palm Crest Students “Terrific Kids”

The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada, with the advice of teachers at Palm Crest Elementary School in La Cañada, honored six students as “Terrific Kids” at a recent weekly lunch meeting held at Descanso Gardens Van de Kamp Hall. The Kiwanis Club sponsors Terrific Kids from all of La Cañada Flintridge elementary schools on a regular basis and works closely with teachers in the selection of students for the honor. Parents of the “Terrific Kids” accompany the students to the luncheon and are singled out as “Terrific Parents.”
Honored were Raina Chen who likes playing the piano and wants to be a cheerleader. She is a Girl Scout.
Annie Shahverdian enjoys science and playing sports. She is a member of the award-winning Spartan basketball team and also enjoys playing tennis with her friends.
Also honored was Nyree Khachikyan, a member of the student council who has organized student rallies. She is taking lessons in international dance and plays the piano.
Emily Blasisdell likes to sing and act in plays. She is a Girl Scout and likes arts and crafts. She loves animals and has four cats.
Eduardo Torres was also recognized as a terrific kid. He loves playing golf. Math and science are his favorite subjects and he is a black belt in tae kwon do. Eduardo enjoys playing the piano and riding his bike.
Aaron Burnham likes baseball and plays it year round on the school’s team and is on a tournament team. He plays the drums and his favorite subjects are math and science. Aaron enjoys tutoring second graders and helping in his classroom helping his classmates.
