Our Lady of Lourdes Promotes Eighth Graders

The graduates of Our Lady of Lourdes (OLL) started out as little Lourdes cubs back in kindergarten and are now the roaring OLL Lions of 2023.

The promotion ceremony is planned for Friday, June 9 at 5 p.m. at the school campus at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Tujunga. These students will move on to schools like Providence, Alemany, Mayfield Senior School, Crescenta Valley High School, Verdugo High and LA County School of the Arts.

Principal Evelyn Cortes said, “This group of students is well-prepared for high school and beyond and will do amazing things in their futures. I remember many of them when they were in kindergarten and first grade and to see the growth they have made and the friendships they have established, I am filled with gratitude. Thank you students may you have abundant blessings.”

Eighth grade teacher Ben Freeman remembered how much fun they’ve had over the school year with the Halloween Haunted House and the May Crowning – both events showed the students could apply themselves and be responsible in both fun and serious ways.

“I’m sure the eighth grade would say beating the faculty in the annual volleyball game was a highlight as well,” he added.

“This has been an excellent class, and it has been a joy to watch these kids begin to grow into confident, respectful and intelligent young people.” Said Mr. Freeman.
