On May 30, three St. Monica Academy seniors – Beau Barry, Sam Gutierrez, and Peter Ford – signed National Letters of Intent to play collegiate sports. Barry will be playing baseball for Hendrix College (Arkansas), and both Gutierrez and Ford will be playing basketball for Holy Cross (Indiana).
Barry was League MVP in 2018 and first team all league catcher, pitcher, and third baseman in 2017 and 2016. He captained SMA to its sixth consecutive undefeated league championship and playoff appearance.
Gutierrez was voted to the second team all league and was an integral starter on SMA’s 2018 basketball team that reached both the Div. 5A semi-final and the state tournament.
Ford captained SMA’s historic basketball team, won the International League MVP, and was selected as a CIF-SS All-Star.
St. Monica Academy is an independent, Catholic coeducational school for grades one through 12 in Montrose.
