Rosemont Middle School promotion of eighth grade students was held on June 9 at Glendale High School. It was the first in-person promotion since 2019 and the high school’s track and field gave the students, and their parents, plenty of room to follow social distancing guidelines.
Students who took to the podium spoke about their time at Rosemont and how, in the midst of adjusting to lockers, schedules and new classrooms as seventh graders, they were sidelined by the pandemic.
The students who promoted were seventh graders in March 2020; they went on spring break and, like other students throughout Glendale Unified School District and other public schools in the state, found those extra few days were extended to the rest of school years 2019-20 and 2020-21. Many of these promoting students only spent eight months on the Rosemont campus.
Despite the situation that the pandemic thrust them into, they are ready to move on to high school and to return to in-person learning.
