Kiwanis Shows Support for Girl Scout Camp

Celebrating 25 years of serving the community, the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada La Crescenta – AM presented a $350 check to the Girl Scouts of Glendale/La Crescenta Service Unit to be used in their Twilight Camp, which is a tradition of more than 25 years. This camp started with 50 girls and has grown to 150 who, each day, enjoy the activities that excite and entice them to try something different and new.

Presenting the award to the Girl Scouts in the presence of 35 Kiwanis members was Christie Crahan, president-elect. Receiving the check on behalf of the Girl Scouts was senior Girl Scout Anni Brundige and her mom, Patti Anne.

The Twilight Camp theme for 2018 is “Scouting at Sea” and will be held June 18-22. Their adult director, Jullian Kauffman, was a camper at Twilight Camp when growing up.

The camp is open to all school aged Girl Scouts and those eligible to be Girl Scouts. The activities are planned, developed and executed by older Girl Scouts, adult graduates and lifetime adult Girl Scout leaders – each one an unpaid volunteer.

The Kiwanis Club of La Cañada La Crescenta-AM is always looking for new members who are interested in serving the community and serving children. Weekly meetings include an interesting speaker and are on Wednesdays at 7:30 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Foothills, 1700 Foothill Blvd.
