The Show Must Go On

The Annual Lincoln Talent Show took place virtually for the second year in a row due to pandemic restrictions. The Lincoln Auditorium has not been used for the Talent Show for two years, but that did not stop the talented youth of Lincoln from putting on a show.

Nicolas James, first grade teacher, once again sent out letters to all Lincoln students who wanted to participate in the Talent Show asking them to tape their acts and email them in. The Lincoln students did not disappoint.

There were more than 31 talented students who recorded their amazing talents, eager to participate this year. Computer Lab teacher Angie Griffin edited together all the acts with student council members making introductions. The show was broadcast live from James’ home with his son, Lincoln alumnus Peter James, playing a traditional Ukrainian piano piece to begin the show.

The show was enjoyed by the Lincoln Elementary community and, by presenting it on Zoom, grandparents across the nation were able to watch their grandkids.

Ryann Martin sang an original song.

Lincoln students played piano, cello, drums, electric guitar and violin; they sang and drew photos in time lapse. The sixth grade girls performed an interpretive dance to “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and, for the first time ever, Olivia Spears showed off her acrobatics on the ribbon gymnastics.

James is hoping that next year’s Talent Show will return to the Lincoln stage but is considering having it broadcast on Zoom simultaneously because of the positive feedback received from out-of-town grandparents.
