Students at St. James – Holy Redeemer School learned all about the rovers built at JPL on May 28 when one of the school’s parents who works at JPL brought a rover to the campus.
They were shown how the rocket travels to Mars, how the rover is set down on the planet and then how it unfolds itself to absorb power from the sun.
Students also learned (firsthand) how the rover can travel up and down hillsides and over most obstacles.
A video was also shown that included the development of new equipment using robotics.
