CSF Holds Awards Luncheon

Marking its 54th anniversary, Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge celebrated the success of nine new scholarship applicants and four renewal scholarship students. The 2018 scholarship luncheon was held on Sunday, June 3 at one of the event rooms of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. USC Verdugo Hills Hospital has been supporting organizations such as CSF through donations and by hosting events that have a positive impact in the community of La Cañada Flintridge.

CSF announced that each of the new scholarship recipients received $4,000 to assist them in their pursuit of obtaining higher education. Two of the students qualified for memorial scholarships. They received the Don and Jo Seastrom Memorial Scholarship and the Lt. Todd Bryant Memorial Scholarship.

All applicants completed their high school education and each one possessed exemplary and unique features that defined them as young adults with great character, amazing sense of time management and a high level of compassion, aside from their hard work maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or greater. This year’s recipients attended La Cañada High School, St. Francis High School, Crescenta Valley High School and Hillside Learning Center, respectively.

Tzanimir Borovski graduated from Crescenta Valley High School and will be attending Chapman University to pursue a degree in business administration-economy. Borovski was awarded the Lt. Todd Bryant Memorial Scholarship.

Breanna Chan also graduated from Crescenta Valley High School. She will be attending University of Illinois and pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. Chan also received the Don and Jo Seastrom Memorial Scholarship.

Conrad Jensen graduated from St. Francis High School and will be attending Vanderbilt University to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.

Alison Kersteins graduated from Hillside Learning Center. She will be attending Pasadena City College.

Zion Kim graduated from Crescenta Valley High School. Kim will attend UC Irvine and pursuing a degree in English.

Nicole Lewis graduated from La Cañada High School. She will be attending University of Southern California.

Kelly Phelan is a recent graduate who will attend University of Rochester and pursue a degree in pediatric surgery.

Madeline Reilly graduated from La Cañada High School. She will be attending University of Oregon.

Spencer Zahabizadeh graduated from St. Francis High School. He will be attending University of Southern California.

The Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge offers scholarships to qualifying students who attend any of the high schools in La Cañada Flintridge and those students attending Crescenta Valley High School. Scholarships are renewable every year.
