The Crescenta Valley Park Skatepark celebrated its second year anniversary on June 21. Professional skaters, booths featuring skateboard equipment and food were on-site for the celebration.
The idea for the park originated from local skaters Cooper Iven, Austin Seo and Corbin Southworth. They wanted to have a skatepark in the area but wanted it designed with features desired by the skater community. The boys, who were in high school at the time, gathered together additional skaters and traveled to skateparks throughout the area, took pictures and worked with county designers to create the park they wanted.
After six years of community and youth committee meetings, and with the support of then-Supervisor Michael Antonovich, the skatepark became a reality with its grand opening in August 2016.
