Valley View Elementary School ended the year with a final recycling day that brought in $331 worth of recyclables. Early estimates were that it was the biggest recycling event at the school. Credit was given to parent volunteers who helped pack up three truckloads of merchandise that were delivered to the recycling center.
This past school year Valley View was able to raise $2,227 solely from the recycling of bottles and cans. Kelly Mayes Harper has led the recycling program at Valley View and helped raise close to $20,000 over the past five years as recycling chair.
The recycling event was also the final morning of volunteering for fifth grade teacher Charlotte Briner who retired from Valley View.
