On Friday, July 10, five Boy Scouts from Troop 319 visited the offices of Crescenta Valley Weekly. They came to complete a requirement for their journalism merit badge.

Twins Brody Heim and Connor Heim, 11, from Fremont Elementary, Cross Garabedian, 11, from Monte Vista Elementary, Kevin Hwang, 11, from Dunsmore Elementary and Diego Williams, 15, from Granada High School learned the fundamentals of how to write for a newspaper story and preparing photography for a newspaper.

Most of the requirements for the journalism merit badge had been met by Friday; the visit to CV Weekly was one of the final requirements.

In order to prove that all the requirements had been met, paperwork – a blue card – needed to be filled out, signed by Scoutmaster Andrew Green and then submitted. The badges will be presented at a quarterly court of honor.

During the summer the boys meet at the community room at Dunsmore Park; during the school year they meet at Dunsmore Elementary School every Tuesday.

To learn more about joining Troop 319 stop by a meeting at 7p.m. any Tuesday after July 28.
