Four Glendale Unified students received gold medals at the 55th Annual SkillsUSA National competition. Larisa Assadourian, Tsoler Demerdjian and Alaina Chiriyankandath Joby from Clark Magnet High School took gold in the Natural Resources Career Pathways Showcase, advised by teacher Dominique Evans-Bye. Carly Ngo from Crescenta Valley High School won a gold medal in the Medical Math competition, advised by teacher Orenda Tuason.

The SkillsUSA National competition took place in Louisville, Kentucky from June 24-28. More than 6,500 outstanding career and technical education students competed in 103 different trade, technical and leadership fields. Students worked against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in various occupations.

In April, 17 students from Clark Magnet and Crescenta Valley high schools competed in the SkillsUSA California State competition. Gold medal winners from the state competition were invited to compete in the SkillsUSA National competition.
