Students entering grades three through six are invited to join the ALFie Players fall drama program. Later in the coming school year students in grades five through 10 will have an opportunity to join the ALFie Company winter production.
Assistance League® of Flintridge (ALF) has offered these after-school drama programs to students in La Cañada and surrounding communities since 1985. Each program culminates with a public performance at Lanterman Auditorium.
The feline adventure “The Aristocats KIDS,” based on the Disney animated film, features entertaining roles for boys and girls. Exuberant group numbers are expected to have the audience tapping its feet.
Students will rehearse during September and October with a performance on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. he winter production will be “James and the Giant Peach JR,” an offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure. Rehearsals begin in January with a performance on March 1, 2019 at 7 p.m.
Katelyn Fike will return as drama director of the ALF program. She is also the drama instructor for the La Cañada Unified School District (LCUSD) elementary schools. These programs are designed for beginners as well as experienced drama performers. Participants learn songs and choreography, and practice fundamental drama skills. They often create their own costumes and sets.
Students in grades three through six will meet at Lanterman Auditorium on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. ALFie Company students in grades five through 10 will meet at the ALF Chapter House or Lanterman Auditorium on Tuesdays and Thursdays in January and February from 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Online registration for both programs begins at noon on Aug. 6 at ALFlintridge.org. Early registration is highly recommended. A fee of $275 per program session is charged.
