The scholarship chairwoman and members of Glendale Area Alumnae Panhellenic, a nonprofit organization consisting of National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) sorority alumnae volunteer women, announced the recipients of the organization’s 2012 scholarship awards.
Awards are given annually to eligible area high school senior girls and Glendale college women who are planning to attend a four-year college or university in the fall, as well as to eligible area college women who are active members in good standing of a NPC sorority. The alumnae group supports high schools in Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose, Sunland and Tujunga as well as young women living in these areas who may be attending schools in other areas. The Glendale Area Alumnae Panhellenic sponsors an annual benefit luncheon to raise money for the scholarships.
One of the 2012 college sorority member recipients is Katherine Freeman of La Crescenta, a 2011 graduate of Crescenta Valley High School. Freeman is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi at Cal State University Long Beach and is majoring in theater arts.
Two of the 2012 high school recipients are La Crescenta residents. Marisa Gonzales, a graduate of Crescenta Valley High School, is planning to attend the University of Miami. Jessica Palacios, a graduate of Clark Magnet High School, is planning to attend Whitman College.
