With just 10 days left before school resumes for Glendale Unified School District students, here’s some suggestions on how they can spend the last few precious days before they happily (?) go back to school.
Summer Beach Bus

This is a great, cheap way to get to the beach and away from the current heat wave. The bus runs through Sept. 3 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Labor Day. The stops are: Two Strike Park at 9:15 a.m., La Crescenta Library at 9:25 a.m., on the southeast corner of Montrose Avenue and Ocean View Boulevard at 9:35 a.m. and the northwest corner of Foothill and La Cañada boulevards at 9:45 a.m.
The bus travels from Crescenta Valley to the Santa Monica Beach dropping riders off at 10:45 a.m.

Enjoy a day at the beach and don’t forget to allow plenty of time to meet the bus for the return trip. The bus departs Santa Monica Beach at 3:30 p.m.

Tickets are $3 for children and adults, $1.50 for senior citizens, 60 and older and $1.50 for persons with disabilities.

Theme and Water Parks

Disneyland
Park Hours from Aug. 9 to Aug. 19 are 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. for Disneyland; 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. for California Adventure.

Tickets for One Day, One Park are $81 for ages 3 to 9, $87 10 years and up. One Day Park Hopper (includes Disneyland and California Adventure) are $119 for ages 3 to 9, $125 ages 10 and up.

Universal Studios Hollywood
Tickets vary from $80 to $269 for a day. There are other offers including Buy a Day/Get a Year online purchases.

Hours from Aug. 9 -12 are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Aug. 13 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 14-17 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Aug. 19 from 9 a.m. to 8 pm.

Knotts Berry Farm
Park hours from Aug. 9-17 and Aug. 19 are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Tickets for one day are $39 if bought online, $57.99 at the gate for ages 12 to 61. For ages 3 to 11 and seniors 62 years old and up, tickets are $25.99 online and $29.99 at the gate.
Knotts Soak City  
Park hours from Aug. 9-12 and Aug. 18-19 are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Aug. 13-17 are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets for one day are $27.99 online or $33.99 at the gate for ages 12 and up. For ages 3 to 11 and seniors 62 years old and older, tickets are $23 online.

Six Flags Magic Mountain
Park hours are Aug. 9-10 from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Aug. 12 and Aug. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Aug. 13-17 and Aug. 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tickets at the gate are $64.99 for general admission. Children under 48 inches tall are $39.99, and children 2 and under are free.

Money can be saved if tickets are purchased three days in advance; the price is $39.99 for all. Tickets online, without three-day advance purchase, are $44.99.
