It’s not too late to join Assisteens, the Assistance League of Flintridge volunteer program for students in grades seven through 12. Since 1967, the local communities have greatly benefited from the philanthropic endeavors of the student-governed group. The goals are to uplift youth to engage in community service and to develop a sense of personal responsibility, self-reliance, public speaking and leadership skills.
The new season of Assisteens will run from August 2024 to May 2025. The group will meet one day a month to work on projects with opportunities on other days as they come up. Assisteens also sign up to staff the Bargain Box Thrift Shop on Saturdays. Meetings are held at Assistance League of Flintridge, 4607 Oakwood Ave. in La Cañada Flintridge. Students from La Cañada Flintridge and the nearby foothill communities are welcome to join.
Registration will be closing on Monday, Aug. 26. For more information, visit the ALF website at ALFlintridge.org or call (818) 790-2211.
