Thousands of students in the Glendale Unified School District headed back to school on Monday. Some were happy, some not so happy, but all put on their backpacks and made their way to class.
The elementary schools saw a parade of kindergarteners through sixth graders enter the halls, with parents escorting the majority of children. Some of the students cheered after checking the classroom assignments posted on exterior walls and finding they got that one teacher they hoped for. Others hugged each other hello after a long summer apart. In the case of kindergarteners, there was some hesitation by the new little students – and trepidation on the faces of their parents – as they entered the world of academia.
