Magical Make-Believe for Elementary School Drama Students
Assistance League® of Flintridge (ALF) will provide elementary school drama students, grades three through six, an opportunity to grant wishes, turn items into gold and descend beneath the sea when they sign up for “Aladdin and Other Tales of Wonder,” the fall drama production for the ALFie Players.
Directed by Koni McCurdy, with assistance from Lindsay McGee, these young actors will explore the stories of “Aladdin,” “Midas and the Golden Touch” and “The Little Mermaid.” Each actor will be able to participate in two of the three stories. ALF member Nancy Abbott will again work as the musical director and provide the piano accompaniment for the musical portions of the stories.
The fantasy fun of memorizing the lines, singing and acting in such well-loved stories is augmented with work on costuming, staging, set design and decoration, and choreography.
Registration opened Aug. 3. Rehearsals begin Sep. 1 and are held from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, except for the week of the show when students rehearse each day. The performance will be Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in Lanterman Auditorium.
