The walls of Holy Redeemer School’s Healy Hall were shaking with the voices of students singing at the Second Annual Family Fun Karaoke Night on Friday, Sept. 25.
The school’s eighth grade students organized and coordinated the evening’s activities with much help from their teacher, Lisa Tush, and many parent volunteers. Kids from all grade levels showcased their singing skills.
More than 250 people attended the fun event. The admission price was a canned food item. The food collected will benefit Friends In Deed in Pasadena, a food pantry for those in need.
Friends in Deed provides supplemental food to more than 200 low-income and homeless families each week. It has experienced a staggering increase in clients over the past year due to the current economy. For instance, in June of this year, the pantry served 919 families, nearly double the 497 families it served in January 2008.
