La Crescenta Boy Scout Troop 319 adopted a biking trail in Big Bear as a way of giving back to a community that provides them with opportunities to mountain bike and earn biking merit badges. Under the direction of Assistant Scout Master Chris Davis, the Scouts visit the Plantation Trail several times a year to clear debris and even reshape the trail in areas to make it a more interesting ride for everyone who utilizes it.
Troop 319’s one-mile section of the trail is part of the USDA’s Forest Service “Adopt a Trail Program” and members of the Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation direct the digging and raking and have honored the troop with its own sign at the trailhead for their efforts.
