On Saturday, the Crescenta Valley High School JROTC hosted a rummage sale in the school’s cafeteria from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Their aim was to reach $5,000 for the 25th Annual Military Ball that will be held at the Angeles National Golf Course on Feb. 2.

According to JROTC mentor Lt. Col. Dave Worley, the sale was a success though as of Wednesday the amount of money raised had not been totaled. Initial reviews indicate that they are still a long way from achieving their goal, however.

JROTC cadets, their parents, and members of the community donated items to be sold, such as clothes, books and cookware. Parents of the Booster Club organized and ran the rummage sale with help from the cadets.

There are two upcoming events that can help the CVHS JROTC reach its goal. Tonight is Dine-Out Night at Baja Fresh and Togos/Baskin Robbins located in the Ralphs Marketplace in the 2600 block of Foothill Boulevard. Then on Saturday the cadets will be holding a car wash in the parking lot in the 4400 block of Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta beginning at 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Those who wish to donate money to the JROTC can still write a check out to the JROTC at Crescenta Valley High and mail it to the school or call Lt. Col. Worley at (818) 249-5871 ext. 8104. The JROTC would appreciate any donations.

The goods sold were donated by JROTC supporters and family members.
