On Oct. 16, four of the eight members of Boy Scout Troop 390 from the Church of Latter-day Saints visited the offices of CV Weekly. They came to the office to meet one requirement of the journalism merit badge.

Parker Lee, 14, Alden Marriott, 12, Max Burton, 12 and Max Reil, 12, attend Rosemont Middle School. They have their meetings most Wednesdays at the church. The boys have been together in the scouting program on average four years and agree that there are plenty of fun things to do in scouting.

“I like camping,” said Max Reil. Several of the boys agreed.

“Backpacking is another fun thing,” said Max Burton. Max Burton, Max Riel and Parker completed a recent four-day backpacking trip to Forks of the Kern. They backpacked two miles in and brought with them sleeping bags, tents, food and water and other necessities.

The common goal of the troop is reach the rank of Eagle Scout.

“Reaching the rank of Eagle Scout would be a great honor,” said Max Riel.
