First graders at Village Christian School in Sun Valley, with their teacher Carol Ayers, a graduate of Glendale High School, participated in Talk Like a Pirate Day.

In addition to having their faces painted, the students practiced the “ar” phonogram, were visited by Head of School Tom Konjoyan, who was dressed as a pirate, and went on a treasure hunt.
